Keep a backup on your external hard drive and a copy on any of the cloud sevices. If you do not have enough space on the said cloud service then keep a copy of data from this hard drive on to two different hard drives. In other words you will have 3 copies of your data on three different hard drives. Now store these two hard drives on two different locations. Now your data is safe.
